DRDO Successfully Tests Pinaka Long-Range Guided Rocket In Odisha, To Be Inducted In Indian Army
DRDO successfully tested the Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket (LRGR 120) at Chandipur, Odisha, achieving its full 120 km range with precise target impact. The LRGR 120, an advanced variant of the Pinaka Multiple Launch Rocket System, features guidance systems combining inertial navigation, mid-course updates, and terminal correction for high accuracy. Unlike earlier unguided rockets, it allows the Army to engage enemy artillery, command centers, and logistics from a safe distance, enhancing survivability of launch units. Fired from existing Pinaka launchers, it boosts deep-strike and counter-force capabilities. The test coincided with the Defence Acquisition Council clearing defence procurements worth Rs 79,000 crore, including loitering munitions, radars, and drone detection systems, strengthening India’s overall combat readiness.
