Bengaluru: A 27-year-old delivery boy was arrested by Mahadevapura police for allegedly sexually harassing a married woman at Phoenix Marketcity mall on Whitefield Main Road on Dec 25. The accused, Manoj Chand, hails from Guwahati, Assam, and works for a well-known online food delivery service. The incident occurred around 7:30pm in the crowded mall, where visitors were celebrating Christmas. The victim, a 28-year-old woman from West Bengal, had come to the mall with her husband and child. While standing near the large Christmas tree, Manoj, allegedly heavily intoxicated, touched her inappropriately from behind.

Shocked, the woman immediately alerted her husband and nearby police personnel. Officers from the Whitefield division, already present at the mall for security preparations ahead of the New Year, acted swiftly. They detained Manoj at the scene, and Mahadevapura police later registered a case based on the woman’s complaint. Manoj was arrested and produced before a court, where he was remanded in judicial custody.
