'Under influence of alcohol': Fashion designer alleges harassment in Bengaluru Metro
A woman, a fashion designer residing in Arekere, has accused a man in his 50s of harassment while travelling on the Metro on the evening of Dec 23

Bengaluru: A woman, a fashion designer residing in Arekere, has accused a man in his 50s of harassment while travelling on the Metro on the evening of Dec 23. According to her complaint filed with Upparpet police, the incident occurred around 7.45pm near Vidhana Soudha Metro Station while she was travelling from Sathya Sai Hospital Metro Station to Kempegowda Metro Station.The woman reported that the man seated next to her misbehaved during the ride. Upon reaching Kempegowda Metro station, she alerted the Metro security staff, leading to the man’s detention and subsequent transportation to the police station. However, a senior police officer noted that the woman initially declined to file a formal complaint for the registration of an FIR.

“We counselled her for nearly 30 minutes and also spoke to her mother over the phone, but they insisted only that the man be warned so that he does not repeat such behaviour,” the officer stated.Following a petition submitted by the woman, the police registered a non-cognisable report (NCR) and issued a warning to the man before releasing him. During the inquiry, police discovered that the man was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and had leaned on the woman after losing his balance. Subsequently, the woman uploaded a video of the man on social media, accusing him of harassment, according to police reports.
