Mumbai: Courier firm embezzled of Rs 36 lakh jewellery and cash by delivery boy employee | Mumbai News
Mumbai: The owner of a courier and logistics firm has lodged a police complaint against one of his employees for misappropriating gold and diamond jewellery and cash collectively worth Rs 36 lakh. Vile Parle police have lodged an FIR against the employee.The logistics firm is based out of Zaveri Bazaar in south Mumbai. It specialises in delivery of gold and silver ornaments into Mumbai and from Mumbai to various other Indian cities. The packages arrive into Mumbai by air. They are collected by delivery personnel and taken to their accommodation in Vile Parle East, before delivering them to their destinations.On Dec 20, the logistics firm received parcels of gold and diamond ornaments from Palghar and central Delhi which were to be delivered to jewellers in south Mumbai. A third parcel arrived by air and, as per procedure, was kept at the delivery person’s accommodation in Vile Parle East.On Dec 23, the firm assigned the three parcels to a delivery boy, Ritik Chand (25). He was also given a sum of Rs 1 lakh in cash to be kept at office. But he switched off his phones and did not deliver any of the parcels. The owner of the logistics firm then approached the police.
