The Odisha Subordinate Staff Selection Commission, known as OSSSC, has released a short notification for Forest Guard and Forester recruitment 2026. The notice confirms a total of 943 vacancies under the Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Department and is available on the official website osssc.gov.in.This recruitment drive gives clear details about posts, vacancies, age limits, selection stages, and pay levels. If you are planning to apply, the notification explains when registration starts and how the online process will move forward in the coming weeks.Short notification and key datesOSSSC issued the short notification on December 24, 2025. It includes the main schedule for registration and application submission. Online registration and re-registration will begin on December 30, 2025. The last date for registration and re-registration is January 22, 2026. Candidates can submit their online application forms from December 30, 2025, and the final date to submit applications is January 30, 2026. The commission has stated that the detailed notification will be released soon.Vacancy details and posts offeredThe recruitment covers two posts, Forest Guard and Forester. Out of the total 943 vacancies, 896 posts are for Forest Guard, while 47 posts are for Forester. These positions fall under the Odisha Subordinate Staff Selection Commission and are part of the state forest administration setup.Eligibility criteria and age limitCandidates applying for the Forest Guard post must have passed the High School Certificate Examination, equivalent to 10+, from a recognised board or institution. For the Forester post, applicants need to have completed +2 or Intermediate Science from a recognised board or institution, along with basic knowledge of computer skills. The minimum age limit for all applicants is 18 years, and the maximum age limit is 38 years. Age relaxation is available as per rules. SC, ST, Women, and SEBC candidates get a relaxation of five years. PWD candidates are eligible for ten years of relaxation, while Gomitra candidates receive seven years.Selection process and exam patternThe selection process will be conducted in three stages. Stage one is a written test. Stage two includes a Physical Measurement Test and a Physical Efficiency Test. Stage three is document verification.The written examination will have objective-type multiple-choice questions. There will be 150 questions carrying a total of 150 marks. The exam duration is 150 minutes. Negative marking of 0.50 marks will apply. The standard of the exam will be based on High School or 10th class level.Salary details and application feeForest Guard posts fall under Pay Level 4 with a salary of Rs. 19,900. Forester posts are under Pay Level 7 with a salary of Rs. 25,500. The examination fee is nil for all categories. Applications must be submitted online through the official OSSSC website.
