The passing of veteran Malayalam actor and versatile artist Sreenivasan has left the film industry in mourning due to his failing health. He was a multi-talented actor, screenwriter, director, and producer, and his contribution to Malayalam cinema is immeasurable. He is also well-known to Tamil fans; his humorous and natural acting in the film ‘Lesa Lesa,’ which was directed by Priyadarshan, is especially remembered to this day. Through that film, Sreenivasan created a bond with Tamil fans that transcended language.
Shaam shares his emotions on Sreenivasan’s demise
Mourning the demise of Sreenivasan, actor Shaam shared his heartfelt experiences of working with him in the film ‘Lesa Lesa.’ In a conversation with Etimes, he said, “He is a very sweet, friendly man. I really enjoyed his sense of humor during the shooting of ‘Lesa Lesa.’ The spontaneous acting he displayed on the sets would amaze everyone. He had the magic of making the scene written on paper even more beautiful with his acting,” said Shaam. Shaam then added, “I learned many important acting lessons from Sreenivasan during the shooting of ‘Lesa Lesa,’ and I share my condolences to his family and friends through this interaction.”
Farewell to a beloved artist
Sreenivasan, who had been suffering from ill health for a long time and was undergoing treatment, breathed his last on Saturday (December 20) at his residence in Udayamperoor. He was immediately rushed to the hospital in Tripunithura and given intensive treatment; however, the doctors declared him dead. Many celebrities, including Mammootty, Mohanlal, Dileep, Nivin Pauly, and others, attended the funeral and paid their last respects to him.
Sreenivasan’s extraordinary career
Sreenivasan started his cinema journey with the Malayalam film ‘Manimuzhakkam’ in 1977 and has acted in more than 225 films in a span of about 48 years. His works, which combine social commentary and comedy, have won him several state and national awards. A six-time recipient of the Kerala State Film Awards, he is considered the conscience of Malayalam cinema.
