Late teacher’s Kannada dictionary published by sons

Bengaluru: A late school teacher’s effort to document Kannada words in a dictionary was realised, thanks to his sons’ endeavour. Kannada Shabdartha Kosha was officially published Wednesday.TK Anantanarayana, a former govt school teacher, recorded several words between the 1930s and 1960s. He also authored several books during this period, before passing away in 1982. His family donated the manuscripts to Kannada Sahithya Parishat. Since 2022, the family has taken the initiative to source the works and publish them. The Kannada dictionary has over 140,000 words.“Anantanarayana’s sons, A Sreenivasan, 80, and A Pattabhiraman, 77, went back to KSP and sourced his works. They painstakingly completed the final compilation and publication of their father’s lifelong endeavour, ensuring this intellectual legacy reached the public,” said Deepa Srinivasan, grandchild of the author.
