Emotion in motion: Eifman ballet’s Anna Karenina enchants Mumbai | Mumbai News
The Eifman Ballet of St Petersburg had a presentation of Anna Karenina at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) recently, marking the company’s first-ever performances in India. Choreographed by Boris Eifman, the ballet is inspired by Leo Tolstoy’s classic novel and is regarded as one of the company’s defining psychological works.

The role of Anna was performed by Victoria Mokrousova, who has trained in ballet since childhood and is a long-standing member of the troupe. Reflecting on the experience of performing in the city, she said, “It is the first time we are performing in India, and it’s been a very positive experience. For me, ballet is very interesting, because through the plasticity and the movement, we can show the emotions and the feelings of the main characters. The Mumbai audience was very enthusiastic, hard to compare with any other place.”
