China’s Defence Ministry has warned the Philippines of “serious consequences” following a heated encounter near the disputed Second Thomas Shoal in the South China Sea. Spokesperson Colonel Zhang Xiaogang reaffirmed Beijing’s claims, accusing Manila of “provocations” and “courting external forces” through its joint Exercise Alon with Australia, attended by observers from the U.S., Canada, and Japan. Beijing condemned Manila as a “troublemaker,” citing repeated confrontations at sea involving water cannons, ramming, and dangerous maneuvers by Chinese vessels. The Philippines reported over two dozen Chinese ships in the region, heightening tensions in an already volatile maritime flashpoint. Watch
