BENGALURU: A 37-year-old scooter-borne techie succumbed to injuries after accidentally coming under the wheels of a BMTC bus in Sanjaynagar, north Bengaluru, Tuesday morning. The victim is Roshan, a resident of AECS Layout. Working with a tech company, Roshan was riding a gearless scooter to a hotel around 11am to buy breakfast for his wife and child, who were unwell at home, when the accident occurred, police said.“He hardly rode around 300 metres from his house when he fell while trying to overtake a car from the right side near Vaibhav Theatre junction. He came under the rear right wheels of the bus. Though the bus (KA-57-F-6468) was moving slowly, Roshan sustained multiple internal injuries, which proved fatal,” a police officer said. Police booked BMTC bus driver Kallappa for causing death due to negligence, and he was later released on station bail.Hailing from Kushalnagar in Kodagu district, Roshan is survived by his parents, wife and 18-month-old child.A senior traffic officer said two-wheeler riders should be careful while passing or moving close to heavy vehicles like buses and trucks, as in some cases, the riders fall after brushing against an adjacent vehicle or while avoiding a pothole.“In this case, Roshan accidentally fell and came under the rear wheels of the BMTC bus. Similarly, in another fatal accident reported from Roopena Agrahara in Madiwala traffic limits last week, a scooter-riding youth, trying to overtake a BMTC bus, dashed against an autorickshaw just ahead of the bus and fell. He was crushed to death under the bus wheels,” he said.
