Three die as bus rams parked truck on highway in Karnataka

Bengaluru: A 35-year-old truck driver died on the spot and his two assistants succumbed in hospital, while another sustained serious injuries, as a speeding KSRTC bus rammed into them in Nelamangala on the Bengaluru-Pune National Highway early Saturday morning.The deceased are Ananda Kumar, 35, from Gauribidanur; Srinivasulu, 50, from Madakashira; and Nazeer Ahmed, 36, from RT Nagar in Bengaluru. The injured, Nagaraj, is undergoing treatment. The accident occurred around 3.30am near Gundenahalli junction, police said.“The truck, loaded with sheep, was travelling to the city market from Mudhol in north Karnataka. Anand and Srinivasulu were changing its flat tyre while Ahmed and Nagaraj were signalling other vehicles about the parked truck by flashing torchlight and mobile phone,” an investigating officer said.However, the driver of a KSRTC bus, travelling from Ballari to Bengaluru, failed to notice the torchlights and rammed into the four and the truck. The driver, Vishwanath, has been arrested.
