Mumbai: Six years after a man was killed as he intervened in a fight between two neighbours, a sessions court on Tuesday sentenced two men to life imprisonment. Additional sessions judge A Subramaniam held Siddhesh Dagale and Suraj Salve guilty of murder and other relevant offences under the Indian Penal Code. Two other accused, Umer Ibrahim Sayyad and Jitendra Tawre, were acquitted of all charges.As per the prosecution, a dispute arose between complainant Vinayak Mahadeshwar and Dagale following the demolition of Dagale’s house by the BMC. Dagale suspected that Mahadeshwar had complained to the BMC about his house. On the night of April 24, 2019, Salve called Mahadeshwar to meet him near Dagale’s house. Mahadeshar, accompanied by deceased Dnyanesh Gurav Dagale confronted Mahadeshwar, during which Dagale picked up a wooden log to hit Mahadeshwar. Gurav intervened, and took the blow. He was rushed to hospital where he succumbed. pti
